God's anointed one prays for vindication. These words are true for David, but ultimately true of Jesus, who is the true Anointed One. Christ was betrayed but vindicated in his resurrection.

Christians today can rejoice in this, because Christ's vindication leads to our forgiveness of sins and the security of our salvation.
